Overview

At VXSoft, we have always deeply valued community support and knowledge sharing. Having previously sponsored PYerevan events and several hackathons, we recently took another major step by sponsoring the first-ever local PyData & PyCon conference to gain international recognition. It was an epic event both in scale and speaker lineup, and we are incredibly proud to have been a part of it.

Sponsorship

As a company, you always need to evaluate why you're sponsoring an event. Organizers typically provide a prospectus with various packages offering HR, PR, and brand-visibility perks. However, during PyData & PyCon, VXSoft didn't have pressing HR or PR needs to drive visibility—while we have ongoing hiring, there are plenty of channels to handle recruitment effectively these days.

Instead, we had three major incentives to sponsor:

• To support our speaker, Vladimir.

• To support our CTO, PYerevan, and PyData & PyCon co-organizer — Ruben (me! :D).

• To ensure this community event succeeded and that our beloved Python conference was one of the very best.

As you can see, Diamond package perks—like the dedicated booth, the stage poster (which wasn't there :D), and the HR campaign (also non-existent)—were not the deciding factors. In reality, I was going to organize the event and Vladimir was going to speak regardless of the sponsorship decision. The true driver was pure community support. Even our desk was for sharing Kinder Toys and sweets with the community ;)

Conference

It is always hard to be completely objective when assessing an event you helped organize, but the metrics and feedback from attendees and speakers speak for themselves: this was one of the best-organized technical conferences in the region in terms of lineup, venue, catering, and overall atmosphere.

Two action-packed days, three tracks, 35+ speakers, and over 260 tickets sold resulted in a conference scale Yerevan hasn't seen in years. In fact, only BarCamp Yerevan during its golden years felt larger.

My gratitude to my co-organizers — Habet, Suren, Karen, and Mane — is immeasurable. They’re like a superhero team, each with unique powers that perfectly balance the rest. Without every single one of them, the event wouldn't have been nearly as epic!

Content

While a great venue (huge thanks to AUA!), good coffee, and quality lunch options are essential, none of it matters if the content falls flat. Thanks to the hard work of all the organizers, we put together such an incredible lineup that choosing between the three simultaneous tracks was genuinely difficult.

Topics ranged from robotics to the latest AI harness systems, and from image manipulation algorithms to historical data analysis. The speakers were warm and accessible, open to diving into complex technical details or just chatting about travel, food, local traditions, and even politics.

The after-party felt like a massive, friendly company gathering—packed with great wine, delicious food, and wonderful conversations. Pure networking heaven :D

Conclusion

The corporate world often demands immediate metrics and quantifiable ROI from sponsorships. However, the true value lies in fostering community growth. While it isn't instantly measurable, everyone benefits from it in the long run—including the local tech ecosystem as a whole.
